This pattern has been in my pattern stash, ignored and unloved since 2011 when it was a free gift with Sew magazine, its been quite a hit with sewing community, and I can understand why, easy to sew and easy to wear.
I really want to improve my skill and feel confident sewing with jersey/knits on my sewing machine (I don’t have an overlocker) so this pattern seemed ideal, a wrap top or dress with raglan sleeves.
I used a size 14 for the shoulder area grading out to a 16 for the seams. I also cut about 3 inches off the bottom.
All sewn up on my sewing machine using a ballpoint needle and a stretch stitch.
Top stitched with a twin ballpoint needle.
While waiting for the twin needle to be delivered, and being impatient I stitched the hem of the wrap section with a fancy stretch stitch, but I wish I had waited for the twin needle, which I feel would have looked better.
Browsing the internet looking for a suitable buckle for this top I couldn’t resist this little lot found on Ebay
In other news my sofa shopping arrived this week
Two from Fabworks
And last but not least these gorgeous Liberty Needle cords from Sewbox.
I really must stop buying fabric!!
I just love waiting for the postie when I’ve made a few online purchases! Some lovely goodies, and your buckles perfect for your top 😀
It really cheers me up when I get home from work and find a parcel as arrived!
Nice top, it looks like a really useful pattern.
Love this top – the fabric and the buckle are just made for each other. You’ve got some great purchases there too – I have needlecord envy! 🙂
That knit fabric is gorgeous! Do you remember where you got it from? Great top too! Going to hunt down pattern.
The fabric is from Abakhan in Chester, I got it last year while on a short break in North Wales, was very cheap, I had never seen fabric sold by weight before.
Yes, I know Abakhan. Great bargains in the remnants section!
Lovely top! I’m also nervous of knits, without an overlocker and wanting to improve! It seems to be a common predicament! Love the fabrics you’ve ordered and looking forward to seeing what you make – those needle cords are just gorgeous 😍
Thanks, I am determined to conquer knits!
You’ve got to love a display of buckles and buttons like that! My students love rifling through my button jars to see what they can find and use in their projects. Love the pears fabric especially. The top is right up my street, too – I think it’s lovely.
Thanks, the pears fabric is so soft and light like no other needlecord, can’t wait to get it cut out!
Haven’t seen this pattern before and it does look a useful one. The fabric you’ve used looks great 🙂
Thanks, I can’t believe I had it all this time and not really noticed it – I have far too many patterns!!
I think we all do 😉
Yeah this does look like a great pattern. I keep thinking I should make a wrap dress, I even have the fabric, I’ve just never got round to finding the pattern…
Yours looks lovely, well done for conquering jersey.
“Must stop buying fabric.” I don’t understand those words. Hahaha! Love the knit top. Very cute. And I love your fabrics that your ordered.
Thanks
