I visited my parents today who live in Tewkesbury, on the edge of the town is a roundabout with 2 horse sculptures they mark the site of an important battle in Wars of the Roses between the Yorkists and Lancastrians in 1471.
Always a welcome sight but today they had been yarn bombed!
The sculptures are called Arivall, commissioned by the Tewkesbury Battlefield Society who raised the funds for them. The title, ‘Arrivall’, is taken from the 1471 account of the recovery of Henry VI’s English throne by Edward IV.
Seems the knitters of Tewkesbury were worried that Victor and Vanquished need to be protected from the winter!!
