The Weekend Bag

I love bags and an upcoming weekend break was the only excuse I needed to make a weekend bag.

A bit of internet searching resulted in finding a free PDF pattern on craftbits.com http://craftbits.com/project/make-your-own-weekender-bag/ this a easy to follow simple pattern.

I made a few changes: added a  long adjustable strap, constructed a loose lining with pocket, used plastic mesh for the bag base together with bag feet.  I also quilted the panels on fusible fleece before stitching the panels together.

The fabric was recycled curtain fabric, the zip from a camping chair bag and the metal hardware from an old bag.

All I have to do now is pack, oh and hope my stitching holds!

  1. Great bag! And it’s brilliant you were able to bring it together by recycling other items – it’s a really good use of all those bits and pieces and you have a lovely new (and very useful!) bag.

    1. I hope so, the bottom was quite firm without the plastic mesh and I was going to leave it at that, but I liked the idea of bag feet to keep the bottom of bag of the ground, so added the mesh to accommodate the feet.
